Visionary Award Nomination
Dallas, TX - Popular multi-award winning male vocalist, Ivan Parker, was honored recently by the Christian Music Hall of Fame and Museum with the 2009 Visionary Award nomination for Southern Gospel Male Vocalist of the Year. Visionary Awards are presented in 20 categories, encompassing a variety of Gospel Music genres, including Southern, Country, Rock, Hip Hop, Inspirational and Urban. The Christian Music Hall of Fame Visionary Awards will be presented on November 14 in Dallas, TX.
Parker, who burst onto the Southern Gospel Music scene in 1982, is recognized as one of Southern Gospel Musics leading male vocalists. Traveling with popular quartet, Gold City, for more than a decade, the talented lead vocalist helped lead the group to national notoriety, achieving 19 Top Ten hits, including the 1993 Southern Gospel Song of the Year Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association. Since embarking upon a solo career in 1994, Parker has continued to enjoy prominence and much success. Hit songs have flowed his way in bunches, with more than a dozen solo recordings to his credits. In 2008, Parker enjoyed his first Number One hit, as the moving ballad, I Choose peaked at the Number One position atop The Singing News Magazines Top 80 Radio Airplay Chart.
For the past decade he has been regularly featured on the highly successful Bill Gaither Homecoming Video and Concert Series, and in May of 2008 the Gaither Gospel Series released The Best Of Ivan Parker Collection in DVD and CD format, which peaked on Billboard Magazines Sales Chart at #2. Inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1993, he has received more than 20 Soloist and Male Vocalist of the Year Awards from a variety of leading fan and trade publications.
Most recently, Parker has returned to the recording studio, producing a brand new project, which is scheduled to be released later this year by Crossroads Entertainment. Best of Ivan Parker DVD Achieves Top 10 on Billboard Charts! Nashville, TN - Popular multi-award winning recording artist, Ivan Parker adds more honors to his long list of accolades and awards. The Gaither Music CD/DVD release, The Best Of Ivan Parker, audio recording peaked at the Number One slot on Billboard Magazines Southern Gospel Chart, and also sat at the Number Nine position on the CCM Chart. Additionally, the DVD peaked at the Number Two position on the Billboard Music Video Chart, above numerous popular secular recording artists. On September 24, Gaither Management presented Parker with a plaque in recognition of this success. I am so incredibly excited to receive such a high rating from the prestigious Billboard Magazine, Parker stated at the presentation. What an honor to see Southern Gospel rise to the top of the charts with all the other types of music.
The announcement came on the heels of Parkers receipt of the Fan Award for Favorite Soloist, awarded by subscribers of The Singing News Magazine, one of Southern Gospel Musics leading fan and trade publication. Parker also recently received the 2008 Soloist Of The Year Diamond Award from the SGN Scoops Magazine. Both awards were presented to the popular male vocalist during the 2008 National Quartet Convention, which took place earlier this month in Louisville, KY.
